What To Know About This Production

The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do Re Mi,” “Sixteeen Going on Seventeen” and the title number, The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision.

What To Expect At Auditions

Audition Information

May 16th and 17th, 6:00-8:00

You will only need to attend one night of auditions.

Auditioners will be taken in the order in which they arrive, and will be able to leave after the conclusion of their audition.

Come prepared to sing a one-minute cut of a song of your choosing, preferably not from The Sound of Music, and to read from the script.

There will be callbacks on May 19th from 6:00-8:00. These callbacks will only be for specific roles. Auditioners who are asked to attend callbacks

should be prepared to read from the script, and perform a short cut of their assigned song from The Sound of Music. Resources and Sheet Music will be available.

Rehearsal Schedule Information

Maria Rainer	Female, Adult - Soprano, Ages to be played as: 20-30 A postulant at Nonnberg Abbey - Maria is a headstrong, free-spirited young woman. She is spunky, opinionated, warm, resourceful, youthful, gentle, and kind with much determination.
Captain Georg von Trapp	Male, Adult - Baritone, Ages to be played as: 35-45 A retired Austrian naval captain. He is a widower. He’s polished, yet very military in the way he runs his life; underneath he is warm, understanding and determined. Regimented, dignified, commanding.
Max Detweiler	Male, Adult - Tenor, Ages to be played as: 30-50 A theatrical agent and First Secretary of Education and Culture - a personal friend of Von Trapp and a sort of uncle to his children. He is clever at his job, charming, witty, and quite pushy to get what he wants.
