You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown

Hey Everyone!

I'm excited to get to work on our musical for this season: You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown! This will be truly a delightful show, and there are opportunities for everyone! Lots of exciting group songs like "Beethoven Day," "Suppertime," and more.

While the show was originally written for 6 people, we will be adding an ensemble. Joining Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Snoopy, Sally, and Schroeder will be characters such as Pig Pen, Peppermint Patty, Woodstock, and others! There are so many opportunities, and our ensemble will be comprised of actual Peanuts characters! For the ensemble, there will be numerous group songs, dancing opportunities, and fun scenes. This will be such a fun show for everyone, and I look forward to seeing you all at auditions.

Production Info

Performances are February 27th @ 7:30 and 28th @ 2:00 and 7:30.

Rehearsals will begin December 5th, with a couple small rehearsals before Christmas break. Those dates will be finalized after auditions so Mr. Potts and I can wait to see what our immediate needs are. Tech week, our final week of rehearsals, is February 23rd - 26th. Rehearsals that week will run 6pm-10pm on Monday, and 5pm-10pm Tuesday - Thursday. Tech week and performance conflicts are not allowed, as that is the most critical part of the process. We will be working with the orchestra the week before tech week, so that week is also critical for attendance but can be flexible if absolutely necessary. Conflicts prior to that can be worked around.

There will be a small fee for this production, which will go towards show t-shirts! Ms. Coomer will send this info out to the cast and crew.

Thanks all! Let's get back to it, and keep our momentum from the previous show going into You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown!

-Sam

Dance Call

For the Dance Portion of the Audition, it is OPTIONAL. Those who would like to be considered for more of a dance track, or even if you just want the chance to dance at this audition, please create your own combo to the dance break in "My Blanket and Me" (Track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8TYAwoMtm0&list=PL-qdshFlGQLXwyfXQk_EXewFD8MNwk8hb&index=4 - time stamp 2:27-3:04).

Start the combo on the "ch ch ch"s. Show me what you got, don't be afraid to stand out and make the song your own! Going with that, remember this: something simple and clean is better than impressive and not-so-clean. For example, a clean single turn is better than a sloppy triple turn. If the technique is there, I will be able to see that.

I am looking for someone to be a Dance Captain, or maybe two, who will work heavily with me on choreographing the show. I am not a dancer myself, but if you feel you have a good sense of choreography and would like to be considered for Dance Captain, please let me know at Auditions. Toward the beginning of the rehearsal process, the Dance Captain(s) and I will sit down and talk through elements that I'd like in each song, and have them choreograph the songs based on the vision for them. Please note: If you are cast as Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Snoopy, Sally, or Schroeder, you will not be considered for Dance Captain.

If you have any audition questions, please let me know via email.

Callback Info

I may not call everyone back, but that does not mean you are not cast in this show! Memorization is not required, but encouraged! Refer to the Google Drive link under Audition Info for materials.
