Thank you to every student who auditioned or interviewed this week for our first play of the 25-26 season, Too Many Detectives at the Murder Mansion.

I am truly impressed by the incredible talent, energy, and enthusiasm you brought to the stage. We have already seen over 120 students in the first round of auditions, and you’ve all made this an exciting—but very challenging—decision. To put this into perspective for you, this is more than we had audition for our musical last Spring, Matilda, Jr.

Below is the list of students who have been invited to attend callback auditions:

📅 Wednesday, August 13
🕓 4:35 PM – 6:45 PM
📍 LVISD Big Auditorium

You do not need to prepare or bring anything for callbacks—just bring your best focus and energy!

I am working as diligently as possible to make casting decisions and complete the over 85 interviews for our tech team for the show. The final Cast & Crew List will be posted on Thursday, August 14 at 5:00 PM.

To see the online posting with all of the names of those invited to callbacks, please visit: https://sites.google.com/lvisd.org/lvjhtheatre/25-26-after-school-productions/too-many-detectives-at-the-murder-mansion

When you are asked for a headshot in the Cast 98 program, please just attach a selfie. This will only be used to help Mrs. Nored know who is who during auditions/interviews (I may be dealing with over 100 new faces alone). Don't worry, this picture will not be used for anything else - cast and crew will get nice headshots take during rehearsals for the program later.

Auditions & Tech Interviews will be Aug 11, 12, 2025.

Students that have Mrs. Nored for Theatre Class during the day will have initial auditions and interviews during class on Aug 11 & 12.

Cast Audition Info:

If you would like to be considered for an acting role in this comedy play, then step 1 is to complete the online application on this site by 9 pm on Aug 10, 2025.

Step 2 will be your actual audition. This is a comedy play, so you will not be asked to sing or dance at these auditions. The first rounds of interviews will be individual or small groups. Student that have Mrs. Nored for Theatre Class during the school day will cold read during class on Aug 11 & 12. Student that do not have Mrs. Nored for Theatre Class during the school day will sign up for an audition time on Aug 11 or 12 after school.

You do not need to bring anything with you to auditions. I will have samples from the script for different characters within the show. You will then have a "cold read" audition, which means everyone reads the lines without having them ahead of time to prepare.

Don't be nervous. One of my favorite parts of being a Junior High Theatre Director is helping students through the audition process. You will be able to ask me how to pronounce words if you do not know. It is ok if you fumble the lines a little. I know you did not get to practice ahead. I am looking for how you portray the characters, and how you take directions from me. I need to see someone that can convey the characters personality...I have 7 weeks to help you memorize lines and learn how to pronounce big words :)

If I need to see you more, you may be listed for a callback audition. If needed, the callback list will be posted by 7 pm on Tues, August 12. Callbacks will then be held on Wed, Aug 13 from 4:30-7 pm at the LVISD Auditorium.

Callbacks would be a time where I might have your read again for certain characters with other people in a scene. Do not get upset if you do not get a callback, or if you don't get asked to read for certain parts. Our time will be very limited and we are anticipating a large number of students auditioning, so I may not call back people that I have already cast in certain parts. I may also not have us read for every part - sometime characters are similar enough in personality, I can look at multiple parts at the same time.

The final cast and crew list will be posted on this site by 5 pm on Thurs, Aug 14. You will have until 10 am on Monday, Aug 18 to accept or decline the role/position offered within this site.

Crew Technician Interview Information:

If you are interested in being considered for a crew member position (Stage Manager, Set, Props, Costume, Makeup, Hair, Backstage Helper), then you will apply on this site by 9 pm on Aug 10, 2025.

If you have Mrs. Nored for Theatre Class during the school day, then you will complete you Technician Interview during class on Aug 11 or 12. If you do not have Mrs. Nored for Theatre Class during the school day, then you will sign up for an interview before school on Aug 11 or 12.

Do not be nervous about the "interview." It is going to be a relaxed conversation between you and I on what positions you are interested in for the Tech Team, previous experience (if any), and why you want to be a part of the team.

The final cast and crew list will be posted on this site by 5 pm on Thurs, Aug 14. You will have until 10 am on Monday, Aug 18 to accept or decline the role/position offered within this site.

Cast List For Too Many Detectives at the Murder Mansion

The cast list is posted! Please login to access cast-only resources.

Available Roles

  • Sherlock Holmes - The world’s most famous detective—brilliant, curious, and always ten steps ahead. Sherlock is known for their sharp mind, quick wit, and ability to solve the most puzzling mysteries using logic and observation. Often serious and focused, Sherlock can also be dramatic and eccentric, with a flair for the theatrical when revealing the truth. This role is great for someone who enjoys playing a clever, confident character with strong stage presence. May talk in a british accent.
  • Miss Marple - Sweet little old lady that is kind, unassuming figure with a sharp eye and a sharper mind. Miss Marple may appear like a sweet, quiet neighbor, but don’t be fooled—she notices everything and often solves mysteries before the police do! Calm, clever, and polite, she uses her understanding of human nature and a lifetime of observation to uncover the truth. Great for someone who enjoys playing a wise, thoughtful, and underestimated character.
  • Shaggy - Easy going, goofy, and always hungry member of the Scooby Doo. Shaggy might not be the bravest, but he’s loyal and funny—and often finds clues by accident! He’s known for his love of snacks (especially Scooby Snacks) and his hilarious reactions to spooky situations. Great for someone with strong comedic timing and a laid-back personality. Known for his distinct voice.
  • Velma - The brainy problem-solver of the Scooby Doo gang. Velma is super intelligent, observant, and always the first to figure out the clues—though she might lose her glasses along the way! She's logical and sometimes a bit blunt, but her smarts are what help crack the case. Perfect for someone who loves playing clever, no-nonsense characters.
  • Daphne - Member of the Scooby Doo gang that is stylish, smart, and always up for an adventure. Daphne is known for her fashion sense, but she’s also resourceful and brave when it matters most. She’s often the peacemaker in the group and isn’t afraid to jump into the action. Great for someone who can bring charm, confidence, and courage to the stage.
  • Fred - The confident and brave leader of the Scooby Doo gang. Fred is all about solving mysteries and coming up with plans—especially ones involving traps! He's determined, organized, and always ready to take charge, though sometimes a little too sure of himself. A great role for someone who enjoys being in control and thinking on their feet.
  • Batman - A mysterious hero with a dark cape and a strong sense of justice. Batman is serious, focused, and fearless when it comes to fighting crime. By day, he's billionaire Bruce Wayne; by night, he's the protector of Gotham City. He doesn’t have superpowers—just brains, bravery, and awesome gadgets. Perfect for someone who enjoys playing a calm, intense, and heroic character with a secret identity. Known for a distinct lower voice. We will primarily know him as Batman in this show and not much time spent as Bruce Wayne.
  • Nancy Drew - A fearless teen detective with a sharp mind and a strong sense of justice. Nancy is clever, curious, and always determined to uncover the truth—no matter how tricky the mystery. She’s confident, resourceful, and doesn’t back down from a challenge. Ideal for someone who enjoys playing a bold, intelligent character with great instincts and leadership skills.
  • Frank Hardy - The older and more serious of the Hardy brothers. Frank is smart, focused, and always thinking a few steps ahead. He’s great at solving puzzles, noticing small details, and staying calm under pressure. A natural leader, Frank approaches every mystery with logic and determination. Great for someone who enjoys playing a cool, confident detective.
  • Joe Hardy - The younger Hardy brother—energetic, brave, and quick on his feet. Joe is more impulsive than Frank but just as determined to crack the case. He’s got a big heart, a sense of humor, and a fearless attitude that sometimes gets him into (and out of) trouble. Perfect for someone who loves action, adventure, and a little mischief.
  • Sam Spade - A classic private detective—cool, clever, and always one step ahead. Sam Spade is quick-witted and sharp-tongued, with a knack for asking the right questions and spotting the truth in a world full of lies. With a trench coat and a tough attitude, Sam is the ultimate mystery-solver. Great for someone who enjoys playing a smooth, confident, and slightly sarcastic character with style.
  • Detective Christie - One of two detectives who gets called to the mansion to investigate and try to solve the murder mystery. Will spend a lot of time interviewing witnesses and working with her partner.
  • Detective Kane - One of two detectives who gets called to the mansion to investigate and try to solve the murder mystery. Will spend a lot of time interviewing witnesses and working with his/her partner.
  • Madame Doyle - Owner of Madame Doyle's Museum for Crime and Justice (also known as the Murder Mansion). She is an eccentric and dramatic woman - she will also have several over dramatic comedic reactions in the mansion. She is the host for the fundraiser event taking place at the mansion during the show and has invited all the famous detectives to be the special guests as she raises money to keep her mansion open.
