AUDITIONS INFORMATION

  • YOU MUST Sign up for an audition slot on Cast98
  • Prepare a monologue and song excerpt from the packet on owtheatre.com
  • You will also learn a dance combination on dance audition day
  • Complete your Audition form prior to arriving on audition day on Cast98.
  • DAY 1 of Auditions, Vocal/Acting:
  • Report to the auditorium promptly after school
  • The stage manager will give you a number to pin to your shirt - this will be the number you signed up for on the signup genius.
  • Sit in the center section of the auditorium seats
  • After some brief announcements, we will send all auditioners into the hall
  • Auditioners will come in one at a time and perform their prepared monologue and song for the directors. You may choose which you’d rather do first — monologue or song.
  • You are free to leave after your vocal/acting audition.
  • If you are uncomfortable with singing in the audition, we will allow you to sing with a friend as a duet performance. Please keep in mind, you will not be selected for a lead singing role if you choose this option. But this is a great option for people who are interested in being in the chorus. If you want to be considered for a lead role, you need to sing by yourself.
  • DAY 2 of Auditions, Dance:
  • All will meet in the auditorium and will learn a short dance combination as a group.
  • We will then watch the dances in small groups. You will not have to dance by yourself.
  • There will not be any early releases on this day like there will be for Vocal/Acting
  • What to wear:
  • For Day 1 Vocal/Acting: nice clothing - think Sunday morning church.
  • For Day 2 Dance: comfortable, easy to move in clothes. Jazz or character shoes if you have them.
