Adapted from the hit film by its Academy Award-winning screenwriter, Bruce Joel Rubin, GHOST THE MUSICAL follows Sam and Molly, a young couple whose connection takes a shocking turn after Sam’s untimely death. The bond of love transcends the boundaries of life itself to grow stronger and more fully realized. Trapped between two worlds, Sam refuses to leave Molly when he learns she is in grave danger. Desperate to communicate with her, he turns to a storefront psychic, Oda Mae Brown, who helps him protect Molly and avenge his death. GHOST THE MUSICAL is a poignant romance that builds comedy, suspense, and deeply felt emotion to an ethereal climax that audiences will never forget.

What To Expect At Auditions

Auditions for Ghost the Musical
December 14 and 15 at 7pm

Performance Dates – February 27 - March 15, 2026 (Fri, Sat 8pm; Sun 2:30pm)

Audition Info:
Please come prepared with approximately 16-32 bars in a pop-rock musical theatre style. Please bring either sheet music (an accompanist will be provided) or a recorded track (a bluetooth speaker will be available).

We will also do a dance call and cold reading from the script.

A tentative rehearsal calendar will be provided at auditions.

Cast:
MOLLY JENSEN (20s): Female. An artist living in New York City with her boyfriend, Sam, until he's murdered. Must help Sam avenge his death. Sweet, smart, but too trusting.

SAM WHEAT (20s): Male. Charming leading man, the hero of the story. In love with his long-term girlfriend, Molly; Murdered suddenly. Must come to terms with his death and find his killer. Stage combat and/or ability to play guitar a plus.

ODA MAE BROWN (30s-50s): Black Female. Dynamic singer, larger-than-life character. Smart, sincere, comedic spiritual advisor with a big heart.

CARL BRUNER (20s): Male. Sam’s best friend with hidden motives. Stage combat experience a plus.

HOSPITAL GHOST/ENSEMBLE (30s-60s): First ghost Sam meets following his death. Strong actor and vocalist.

SUBWAY GHOST/ENSEMBLE (30s-60s): Male. Aggressive ghost who eventually aids Sam in learning about his powers in the afterlife. He is a large imposing force. Experience with rap a plus.

WILLIE LOPEZ/ENSEMBLE (20s-40s): Puerto Rican Male. Menacing, dangerous, street smart thug hired by Carl to steal Sam’s wallet but results in Sam’s murder. Stage combat experience a plus.

CLARA/ENSEMBLE: (20s-40s): Black Female. Works with Oda Mae at her spiritual shop. Comedic with a strong voice.

LOUISE/ENSEMBLE: (20s-40s) Black Female. Works with Oda Mae at her spiritual shop. Comedic with a strong voice.

MRS. SANTIAGO/ENSEMBLE (30s-60s): Female. Looking for help from Oda Mae to speak with deceased loved ones. Gullible.
