What To Know About This Production

The Award-winning animated film and stage play comes to life in this romantic and beloved take on the classic fairytale.

Based on the original Broadway production that ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, and the Academy Award-winning motion picture, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. is a fantastic adaptation of the story of transformation and tolerance. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. features some of the most popular songs ever written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice.

The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

What To Expect At Auditions

ALL STUDENTS AUDITIONING OR INTERVIEWING FOR TECH FOR THIS SHOW MUST Complete the following 2 steps by noon on Dec 1, 2025:

  1. JOIN THE GOOGLE CLASSROOM USING THE CODE: x22ol7pk or click on the link below to join.

https://classroom.google.com/c/NzkyNDE0MDU4NDU5?cjc=x22ol7pk

This google classroom is where I will post audition/interview information, callbacks, and the cast & crew list.

  1. Complete and submit the application here on Cast98 where you will give me your background information and choose the time you will be auditioning for the first round or interviewing for tech positions.

If you have any problems with either of these steps contact Mrs. Nored at mnored@lvisd.org before the Dec 1 deadline for assistance. If you wait until after the deadline to contact me for help, you will have to wait until next years shows.

We are expecting a VERY LARGE number of students interested in this show. (We are currently planning for possibly over 200 to apply). We will do our best to include as many students as possible, however there will be a limit to how many we can handle in the rehearsals and shows.

I strongly suggest everyone go into the process with an open mind, and not get their hearts too set on any one particular role. For example: I have already had over 50 students express interest in both the roles of Belle and Chip. I completely understand the draw to both characters, but we have to all be realistic in that in the end only 1-2 people will be cast in these roles. We will do our best to make this the best experience possible for all involved, but the reality is I will have to make cuts if we get the numbers we anticipate, and not everyone will have speaking roles/solos or will get the part they hoped for. In show business, you have to learn to go in, give it all you have got, and understand the director needs to put together the best team possible from all the information they have throughout the tryout process. Sometimes you are the perfect match, and sometimes it may come down to things like chemistry on stage with other actors that you may not be able to change.

Cast List For Beauty and the Beast Jr.

Available Roles

  • Beast - The Beast is a young prince who was hideously transformed by the Enchantress spell Casting for size is not as important as choosing a student who can handle this complex character a dictator, a hurt child, a hero, a defender and a smitten prince Cast an actor who can deliver a range of conflicting emotional states Although the Beast does sing a small bit during Something There and the Finale, this is truly an acting role
  • Belle - Belle is a smart, confident young woman from a small village You will want a strong singer and actress who is able to stand up to Gaston while showing compassion for Maurice, the Servants and eventually the Beast
  • Gaston - Gaston is pompous and dim-wittedharacter and will do whatever it takes to win Belles hand Gaston has all the confidence in the world but lacks the humility to balance it Finding a strong singer and actor is more important than physical size and stature for this role He has to be able to sell his big eponymous number with gusto and arrogance as well as lead the Villagers in The Mob Song
  • Mrs Potts - Mrs Potts is the castle s endearing cook who is becoming a teapot The actor you cast needs a strong, sweet voice and should be able to convey comforting, maternal qualities amidst the chaos that is breaking out in the castle Look for a student who can play a loving mother figure to all the characters
  • Lumiere - Lumiere is a confident, charming French mitre d who (under the enchantresss spell) is becoming a candelabra He has an incessant bickering rapport with CogswortLumiere should be a strong singer who can light up the stage in Be Our Guest If you have a student who can handle the French accent, fantastic This role covers a range of emotions (from charming entertainer to brave soldier) and requires prominent song and dance, so try to cast a strong, versatile performer
  • Cogsworth - Cogsworth is the British major-domo of the castle who is becoming a clock Like all of the castle s Servants, he shows a fatherly compassion for Belle yet is perfectly submissive to the master, the Beast Cogsworth enjoys feeling like the boss and has no problem getting into it with Lumiere Cast a strong actor and singer who can act in charge
  • Chip - Chip is Mrs Potts s son who is becoming a teacup You may cast a younger student for this role, but it is not imperative Chip has a wonderful navet that endears him to all of the Servants Cast an actor who can portray the honesty and spirit of a child and is comfortable trying to sing Chip s few solo lines
  • Madame De La Grande Bouche - Madame De La Grande Bouche is an opera singer who is becoming a wardrobe Madame is larger-than-life in everything she does, including her singing and dancing Look for that student who can portray the ultimate diva with a heart with an outsized personality and voice Madame has some harmony lines with Mrs Potts and Babette, so cast a singer who can hold her own but knows when to pull back in order to sound good with the others
  • Babette - Babette is the maid of the castle who is turning into a feather duster She misses the finer things in life Babette is happy to be at Belle s service at a moment s notice, but her true heart comes through in Human Again Look for a good actor with solid vocal skills to handle Babettes harmonies
