Auditions For A Tale of Two Cities

What To Expect At Auditions

Audition instructions:

  • Sign up for a block of time
  • Please learn ONE of the monologues below so that you can perform it without a script. You will be asked to do it several different ways (an aristocrat, a spy, a cruel person, etc)
  • Please fill out conflicts from 10/6-11/11 from 3:30-7pm using UA as the code for unavailable. Do not worry about adding the reason. If you must arrive late or leave early use PA as the code for partially available and then put time available ("must leave at 4:15, arrive by 4:30", etc). 11/7-11/11 only essential conflicts allowed. 11/14-11/20 no conflicts allowed.

MONOLOGUES:

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us. Disturbing messages come to the English Crown from a congress of British subjects in America. While France rolls smoothly downhill, making paper money and spending it.

Look at me. If you hear in my voice—I don’t know that it is so, but I hope it is—if you hear in my voice any resemblance to a voice that once was sweet music in your ears, weep for it, weep for it! Can you touch my hair and recall a beloved head that lay on your breast when you were young and free? I have come to take you home with me to England. Your agony is over.
