Director's Note

Welcome to Theatre UP’s vibrant and joyful production of “Finding Nemo JR.,” a heartwarming tale of family, courage, and the unbreakable bonds that connect us all. This story, beloved by audiences around the world, takes on an extra-special life here as it is brought to you by an extraordinary cast of 55 talented young performers, ranging in age from 2 to 17.

Directing this production has been nothing short of magical. Watching children of different ages, experiences, and personalities come together to create a world under the sea has been a reminder of the power of community and collaboration. Much like Marlin’s journey to find Nemo, the process has been filled with challenges, discoveries, and moments of profound joy.

Theatre UP’s mission is to empower young performers by providing them a safe space to explore, grow, and shine. This production is a celebration of what happens when young people are given the opportunity to work hard, dream big, and support one another. From the tiniest clownfish to the most towering sharks, each child has poured their heart into bringing this underwater adventure to life.

Behind the scenes, our team has worked tirelessly to craft a production that not only showcases these young performers’ talents but also encourages their growth. From learning lines and songs to mastering choreography and exploring character development, every child has made leaps (and dives!) of progress.

This show is for everyone who has ever been afraid to take that next big step, who has faced the unknown, or who has leaned on friends and family to find their way. It’s for the dreamers, the explorers, and the believers in the impossible.

As you watch tonight, we invite you to see the world through the eyes of a child—full of wonder, hope, and endless possibility. Thank you for supporting Theatre UP and for celebrating the incredible potential of young people.

Sit back, relax, and let’s dive into the magical world of “Finding Nemo JR!”

With gratitude,

Madalyn Sheehy
