What To Know About This Production
The Reno Irish Dance Company is presenting its 21st incarnation of SIAMSA: A CELTIC CHRISTMAS! production, produced and directed by world-renowned performer, choreographer, writer, director and producer Amanda Coulson, owner of Dancin' Performing Arts Center and Studio and the Reno Irish Dance Company. There are two performances on Tuesday, December 6th: 10:30am (for school kids bussed in from almost every school!) and 7:30pm (open to public), at the beautiful Grand Sierra Showroom stage at the Grand Sierra Resort! A cast of over 60 dancers, singers, musicians and special guests, with world-renowned Irish dancers, will be performing in a 40,000 sq' foot theater with a seating capacity of 2900. This dynamic show is a song-and-dance extravaganza framed around a story of a young orphaned woman who is looking for the true meaning of Christmas to share with her younger siblings, who have never heard of the Celtic Christmas tradition of the “candle in the window.” In this beautifully staged, choreographed, and costumed 2-act (2-hour) production, "Holly" and her little sister and brother decide to search for that “Light”. They set off to discover different villages across the various Celtic traditions, each with its own unique story told in dance and/or song. The 9-voice choir sings in 3-part harmony in 4 production numbers, and 3 singers within the choir will be singer-dancers for a jazzy specialty number.
