Cami Thompson Music Company in Reno, Nevada presents SIAMSA: A CELTIC CHRISTMAS

Opening December 6

Things To Know About This Production

The Reno Irish Dance Company is presenting its 21st incarnation of SIAMSA: A CELTIC CHRISTMAS! production, produced and directed by world-renowned performer, choreographer, writer, director and producer Amanda Coulson, owner of Dancin' Performing Arts Center and Studio and the Reno Irish Dance Company. There are two performances on Tuesday, December 6th: 10:30am (for school kids bussed in from almost every school!) and 7:30pm (open to public), at the beautiful Grand Sierra Showroom stage at the Grand Sierra Resort! A cast of over 60 dancers, singers, musicians and special guests, with world-renowned Irish dancers, will be performing in a 40,000 sq' foot theater with a seating capacity of 2900. This dynamic show is a song-and-dance extravaganza framed around a story of a young orphaned woman who is looking for the true meaning of Christmas to share with her younger siblings, who have never heard of the Celtic Christmas tradition of the “candle in the window.” In this beautifully staged, choreographed, and costumed 2-act (2-hour) production, "Holly" and her little sister and brother decide to search for that “Light”. They set off to discover different villages across the various Celtic traditions, each with its own unique story told in dance and/or song. The 9-voice choir sings in 3-part harmony in 4 production numbers, and 3 singers within the choir will be singer-dancers for a jazzy specialty number.

Performance Dates

What To Expect At Auditions

We are currently seeking to cast 10 strong female singers -- 8 onstage performers + 2 understudies/doubles/offstage singers -- to perform in the 21st annual "SIAMSA - A Celtic Christmas" production show at the beautiful Grand Sierra Showroom stage at the Grand Sierra Resort! Must have some onstage experience, can read music and/or are very good at listening and learning harmonies quickly, and can move gracefully. Dance skills are helpful. Ages 17-70.

The vocal numbers in this production are: Carol of the Bells, Where Are You Christmas, Little Drummer Boy, and a Christmas Carols medley finale, plus "Oh Holly" - an original song for 3 sassy jazzy singer-dancers!! Please let me know if you have good dance training/skills so Amanda can consider you for the “Oh Holly” song.

I have arranged all these songs in 3-part harmonies = 3 Soprano-1 voices, 3 Soprano-2 voices, and 2 altos, with me or the alto sub singing the 3rd alto voice off-stage on mic, as our director Amanda wants balanced symmetry onstage. You will each be wearing a body mic.

There is no payment for your performances in this production, but you will each get 2 free tickets to either show.

Once casting is completed, I will send out the Producer’s contracts ASAP, and the DropBox links to the sheet music and song files. You can start practicing on your own as soon as you are cast. You will have access to sheet music and recordings I made for the singers to practice with. Each song has each part recorded separately (Sop 1, Sop2, and Alto). Files are set up so you can practice with the tracks and your part alone, and with the other two parts minus yours, or with all 3. It would be great if you could get familiar with the music before our first rehearsal on Sunday, Nov. 13th. This will save us time. (Hey - the more you practice on your own, the fewer rehearsals we will need! )
