What To Expect At Auditions

AUDITION INFORMATION

Audition Process 

Cast auditions will be held December 17th and 18th, students who didn't sign up online, will be able to sign up the day of auditions outside of the auditorium on a first-come first-serve basis. Callbacks (if needed) will be on December 18th. Report to the theatre lobby and look for the check in signs. Prepare 16-32 bars (at least one verse and chorus) of an appropriate song of your choice to be sung a cappella or with piano accompaniment (musical theatre songs are preferred). Please bring music sheet in your key. You may also be asked to read from a side (lines) provided before or during the auditions. Everyone will be asked to learn and perform a short dance combination. 

Performance Dates  Friday and Saturday, May 15th and 16th. 

If you can’t attend the performances and dress rehearsals each afternoon/night during pre-production weeks (May 11-May 15) please do not audition. 

Rehearsal schedule

All rehearsals will be held after school at Rippowam. Rehearsals may run late during the last few weeks. Depending on your role, you may only be called 2 or 3 times per week. Beginning around May 1st the full cast will be called everyday. We will be staying as late as 7pm during the pre production week (5/13-5/16). WE WILL TAKE ATTENDANCE. IF YOU MISS MORE THAN 3 REHEARSAL WITHOUT NOTIFYING US, WE WILL ASK YOU TO LEAVE DRAMA CLUB.

Participation Fee

If cast, you will need to bring a check for $75 to the first rehearsal. This cost helps pay for necessary costs associated with the production, including hiring professionals, obtaining costumes, paying for the show’s rights, rent light and sound equipment, build the set and so on. Scholarships are available. NO student will be turned away due to inability to pay. Please contact us if you need more info (rippowamdrama@gmail.com).

How will I know if am cast in the show?

Callbacks will be held May 18th (If you don’t get a callback it DOES NOT mean that you are not in the show. It means the director needs to see someone again to make the best casting decision). The cast list will be posted outside of the main office and online on the website probably by the weekend.
